OtherHalf Terms of Use

A short agreement: use the app decently, your content stays yours, and we provide the app as it is.

AGREEMENT

By creating an account or using OtherHalf you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. These terms are between you and Oktay Türkdağlı, the operator of the app.

YOUR ACCOUNT

• You must be at least 16 years old to use OtherHalf.

• Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your password to yourself.

• You are responsible for what happens under your account.

• One account per person. Do not impersonate anyone else.

YOUR LICENCE TO USE THE APP

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use OtherHalf on devices you own or control, for your own private use. You may not copy, resell, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, or remove any notice from it, except where the law expressly allows you to.

YOUR CONTENT

What you write and upload stays yours. We claim no ownership of it.

You give us the narrow permission we need to run the service: to store your content, to back it up, and to show it to you and to the partner you paired with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload — in particular, that you have permission from anyone recognisable in a photo you add.

PAIRING WITH A PARTNER

Pairing gives the other person access to the shared parts of your journal. Only pair with someone you trust, and only share your pairing code with them. If either person ends the pairing, the shared space becomes read-only to both former partners for 30 days and is then permanently purged. Anything a partner already copied or saved outside OtherHalf cannot be recalled.

ACCEPTABLE USE

You agree not to use OtherHalf to:

• break the law, or help anyone else break it;

• upload content that is unlawful, sexual content involving minors, or content that harasses, threatens or defames someone;

• upload someone else's personal data or intimate images without their consent;

• attempt to reach another user's account or data, probe our systems, or bypass any security control;

• send spam, scrape the service, or use it to build a competing product;

• interfere with the app's operation for other people.

REPORTING A PROBLEM

If someone uses OtherHalf to harass you or shares something that should not be there, write to oktayturkdagli@gmail.com. We investigate every report and may remove content or suspend an account. You can also end a pairing at any time from Profile → Connection.

AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES

We work to keep OtherHalf available, but we do not promise it will never be interrupted. We may add, change or withdraw features, and we may update the app. If we ever have to shut the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your content.

PRICE

OtherHalf is currently free and contains no purchases and no advertising. If that ever changes, we will tell you before it affects you, and anything you have already created will stay accessible.

ENDING IT

You can stop using the app whenever you like and delete your account from Profile → Account → Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we are required by law to close. If we close your account without cause, we will tell you why and give you a chance to retrieve your content.

NO WARRANTY

OtherHalf is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Synchronisation is provided for convenience and is not an archival guarantee — keep separate copies of anything you cannot bear to lose.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost data, or for lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death, personal injury, fraud, or your rights as a consumer.

If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.

APP STORE TERMS

If you installed OtherHalf from the Apple App Store, these additional terms apply and Apple can rely on them.

This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claim relating to the app, including product-liability, consumer-protection or intellectual-property claims. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US embargo and are not on a US prohibited-parties list. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app.

If you installed OtherHalf from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to that distribution.

GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts of İzmir have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
